It can read and decode twenty one of the most common barcode symbologies. With its Data Editing feature the ability and flexibility to interface into many applications is easy. The 1045 has a reading distance upto 6.8cm.The USB version connects directly to a free USB port on a Mac (OS 8.3 onwards) or a Windows 98 (OSR2), ME, 2000, XP PC, and is powered by the interface. N.B. Windows NT does not support USB, earlier versions of Windows 98 and 95 require USB updates from Microsoft.

It is a USB HID class 1.0 device and decodes barcodes as if their encoded data were entered from the keyboard.
