Line Powered Serial Reader

This reader is housed in an ivory coloured plastic housing with rear fixing points and a 1 metre data cable. It gives an ASCll RS232 output when ISO Track 2 cards are swiped. Standard baud rate is 9600 bps, 8 bits, no parity. This reader connects to a PC style COM1 port and is powered by the interface, it gives and audible and visual indication of a good read. No software is supplied with this unit.

Weatherproof Rugged Metal Case Reader

This reader has an ASCll RS232 output when ISO Track 2 cards are swiped. Standard baud rate is 9600 bps, 8 bits, no parity. Operating temperature range is 0º C to + 70ºC. Requires a 12V power supply. 3 Metre cable with bare ends for custom projects. LED state can be set with signal switch from HIGH (red) to LOW (green).
This reader is from a well respected UK company specialising in products for access control and related data collection.
The reader incorporates sealed magnetoresistive elements which are further protected with a ceramic overstate. The heads not only operate in wet conditions but reduce head/card wear as there is minimal pressure contact when cards are swiped. This technique is now generally considered as the best card reading technology for the access control and related markets and has been incorporated in many tens of thousands of readers.
